Laboratory rockers are widely used throughout research in both physics, biology, and chemistry to mix and agitate liquid solutions and suspensions. One area of research that puts extra requirements on the rocker, is biofilm growth studies. Where control over both the fluid motion, as well as its temperature, is of importance. Since no commercial system satisfied our requirements, I designed my own “3D-printed temperature and shear stress-controlled rocker platform for enhanced biofilm incubation” (build instruction, Arduino code and component list can be found in the article's supplementary file, along with tests and simulations).
