What Is It?

This is a modular lampshade which can fit on more than 21 different flashlight models.

There are 5 different lampshade variations: one plain shade, and four shades with raised lettering on the inside, so that when illuminated you can display your favorite brand's logo.

The design works by pressing a lamp-specific adapter onto the head of your flashlight. The lampshade then twist-locks onto the adapter. One shade can attach to multiple different lights. (Shown in video).

There is also an optional reflector that attaches to the top of the lampshade; it serves to increase the illumination of the shade and the table area below the shade, rather than losing the light out of the top, particularly on throwy lights. (Shown in video).

The models were designed to use minimal print supports. Printing / Supports recommendations will be at the end.

What Does It Fit?

I will list the different flashlight models that the adapters were designed to fit.

I will also list alternate models that can fit the same adapter (however, the model-specific adapter will likely be a better fit).

I will include the flashlight head outer diameter (mm) that the adapter was designed around - It might fit other flashlights that are not listed which have the same head outer diameter.

Emisar-

D4K / D4V2 - (O.D. 28.00 mm), (also fits Wurkkos TS22).

D3AA - (O.D. 24.00 mm), (also fits Convoy S2+, S2, S6, T7)

Noctigon-

KR4 - (O.D. 29.05 mm)

Convoy-

S21G - (O.D. 26.60 mm)

S2+, S2, S6, T7 - (O.D. 24.05 mm)

T6 - (O.D. 25.05 mm), (also fits Raylight Dawn)

T3 - (O.D. 21.05 mm), (also fits Wurkkos TS10 V2)

Wurkkos-

TS22 - (O.D. 28.00 mm)

FC13 - (O.D. 26.60 mm), (custom 2-diameter design, likely fits nothing else)

TS25 - (O.D. 32.00 mm), (custom 2-diameter design, likely fits nothing else)

WK03 - (O.D. 27.00 mm), (also fits Sofirn SC18 [identical light], custom 2-diameter design)

TS10 Max - (O.D. 26.70 mm)

TS10 V2 - (O.D. 21.00 mm), (the beloved classic, also fits Convoy T3)

Sofirn-

SC33 - (O.D. 32.05 mm)

SC18 - (O.D. 27.00 mm), (also fits Wurkkos WK03 [identical light], custom 2-diameter design)

IF23 - (O.D. 27.60 mm), (custom slot design, likely ill-fitting on anything else)

IF24 Pro - (O.D. 24.05 mm), (custom slot design, likely ill-fitting on anything else)

Model Files Info-

Posted will be STL files for the following:

- 16 different Adapters

- 5 Lampshades (1 plain, 4 with internal brand text: 2 Emisar, 1 Convoy, 1 Wurkkos)

- 1 shade Reflector

I will also include STEP files and FreeCad (FCStd) for the following:

- Twist-Lock Templates, Lamp-side and Shade-side. Lamp-side can be used to model new lamp adapters. Shade-side can be use to model different lamp shades. (Be aware, the lamp-side adapter template was designed around the Sofirn SC33, the largest pocket light that I own, so the absolute maximum lamp head outer diameter that can be accommodated is likely 36.00 mm).

- Plain Lampshade. Can be used to remix the existing design, spice it up, etc.

- Reflector. Can be adapted to fit any redesigned lampshades.

(Note: The lampshade file names are deciphered to mean the following: Arms-100 mm, Shade-102mm dia x 80mm height, Slope-10 degrees.)

Printing / Orientation / Supports Recommendations-

Printing:

I printed all of these in PETG. It has good thermal properties and has withstood the heat that is encountered.

I printed all of these in White, which has enough light transmission to be useful and look good. I also printed one shade in Clear PETG; it has an interesting and unique look.

I have not tried using PLA, but I suspect that it would not be able to withstand the heat generated without warping, so I would not recommend it.

Print settings such as speed/finish profiles, temperatures, infill, seams, etc. are up to you and your preferences.

Infill of 15% Adaptive Cubic has been adequate for me, but other settings would surely work fine. A solid or more uniform infill on the inner text could look better.

A note on seams: you may want to review seam position for aesthetics before printing. I usually force the seam to the rear for the lampshades, and on the adapters I usually place it in line with one of the indicator marks so that the seam is an extension of it.

Orientation:

Adapters- All adapters need to be flipped 180 deg. so that they are printed with the top on the print bed, facing downward. The STL files have the top facing upward. These must be flipped to minimize supports.

Lampshades- The shades can be printed in the upright orientation. The STL files are oriented correctly.

Reflector- The reflector is printed with the top facing the print bed, facing downward, to eliminate the need for supports. The STL file is oriented correctly.

Supports:

These models were designed with the goal in mind of keeping supports to a minimum. However, some supports will be necessary. Following are my recommendations for each of the models:

Adapters: These require supports only on the upper face (in the print orientation) of the twist-lock channel. I use organic supports, lightest settings, 1 mm spacing, on build plate only. This has been adequate.

Reflector: No supports are required.

Lampshade (Plain): This requires supports only on the upper face of the twist-lock hub and the twist-lock lugs. I use snug supports, lightest settings, 1 mm spacing. This can be slightly difficult to fully remove, but I have put some suggestions below for cleaning this up.

Lampshade (Emisar and Emisar/Hank Light): Both of these use the same supports as the Plain shade. The inner surface text is chamfered on all downward facing edges, so it can be printed without any supports on the text. If your slicer applies supports to the text, you can force block them.

Lampshade (Convoy): This requires the same supports as the Plain shade. It also requires supports on the inner surface text. I used snug supports, lightest settings, 1 mm spacing. It was adequate.

Lampshade (Wurkkos): This requires the same supports as the Plain shade. It also requires supports on the inner surface text. I used snug supports, lightest settings, 1 mm spacing. It was adequate.

Support cleanup/Fitment Tips-

The lampshade twist-lock hub can be tricky to clean up, and initial fitting of the lamp adapter can be difficult. But here are a couple of tips to make it easy.

First, pry loose all of the supports. There may be some support interface material remaining. Use a metal scraper, like the tips of needle-nose pliers, to scrape around the diameter of the hub and under the lugs, removing any extra material.

Second, consider printing an extra adapter to use as a sacrificial "break in" tool. After the twist-lock hub has been cleaned up, and an adapter has been inserted, it may be very difficult to turn. So, use the sacrificial adapter and force twist it with a pair of pliers. Work it back and forth a few times to break it in and dislodge any remaining extra material.

After this you will have a twist-lock that is a snug fit with smooth and solid operation.

Conclusion-

If there is anything I missed or if there is anything I need to add, please let me know.

I hope someone can find this to be useful and fun. It was a fun project to design and optimize.

And if anyone remixes this or designs variations, please post them here.

Enjoy.
