Overview

I liked the mods that added magnet feet and screw pins, but I also wanted to have no glue in magnets. I've put these all together and provided the step file.

The feet now use magnets instead of screws, but I have included a version with screws in the CAD

The top pins are now designed for wafer head screws. The original design used flathead screws which would cause cracks between layer lines. I also found these screws interfere with the extruder so I've added cutouts that can be applied to extruder backplates.

I like to avoid gluing magnets and found that there is enough room for a screw if I cutout a small amount of the extruder backplate. I've included modded backplates for the CW2 and Galileo 2. Cutout bodies are available in the step file if you are using a different extruder.

To improve this mod further, have a look at my magnetic dock project that adds magnets to the faceplate.

Hardware needed:

Screw in 6x3 magnets, 2mm countersunk hole. N and S orientation needed

The FYSETC magnets I've been using don't seem to be available anymore

Other options are these and these I have not tested but were recommended by others

M2 × 6mm flathead screws for magnets. Grab some 5mm as well for an upcoming project for stealthburner that adds magnets in the faceplate

M3 x 8mm ultrathin wafer head screws for pins

Supports

I achieved good enough results by using paint on supports in OrcaSlicer as shown here
