This is a small, flat test tile made specifically for practicing surface finishing techniques. Use it to test:
sanding grits
filler primer
spray paint colors
smooth finishes
clear coats
your own custom “mefade” finish
The tile prints quickly and uses very little filament, making it ideal for experimenting before finishing a full model. I use this tile to dial in my sanding + primer + paint workflow, and it helped me achieve a finish so smooth that people didn’t believe it was 3D printed.
If you want your prints to look clean, professional, and injection‑molded, this tile is the perfect place to start.
To follow my steps, start by using 220-grit sandpaper to lightly sand over the tile. After that, apply a coat of spray-on double-thickness matte or flat primer. Remember to apply all coats lightly; if you do two coats and the print is fully covered, you've applied too much. The goal is not to completely coat the print but to fill in micro lines and gaps. Once you've completed this, use some paint. I used Betem dual-tip acrylic markers for mine. The process took some time, but the results came out great!
