My first publish… I saw the contest for catch all trays and thought I could do with one. I also realised I have loads of magnets that were collecting dust from having to buy them in packs of too many. So… Here is my solution an assortment of baseplate thingies. (Quite similar to gridfinity - which I didn't realise until I had finished so may as well attribute it for some back of my mind inspiration.) I tried to include organiser top parts for as many things as I could think would be necessary; phone, wallet, keys, watch, pens, coins, airpod/samsung buds.

Word of warning; these are all pretty large models - I haven't printed any to test just yet but upon slicing Cura is telling me between 5 and 36 hours for most if not all of them.

The phone holders I have designed to fit a cable for charging - I did model it for my Samsung S21 ultra and the usb c cable it came with so be warned it may not fit your charging cable. Also with the samsung watch charger mount - it is for the Samsung Galaxy watch 3 frontier (or something) the wireless charger for it should hopefully slot in and there is a cable hole in the back for it.

As for how they work - I have added holes for 3mm x 6mm neodymium magnets for the bases and all the top bits. If you are going to try use many of them you'll need lots of magnets.

4 way base - 12 magnets

3 way base - 10 magnets

2 way base - 8 magnets

1 way base - 6 magnets

All of the top part organisers - 4 magnets

So for example the 3 in the cover photo (2 x 1 way base, 1 x 2 way base, phone holder, key holder & pen holders) would need a total of 32 magnets…

Magnet holes are tolerated with .2mm - I put some super glue in the hole and then magnet to keep them extra secure. (if you have some elephants foot for the top parts then you may have to cut around the hole with a razor or sand it or something.

These may work without magnets but I don't think they'd be very stable - also I'd suggest marking the same pole on every magnet with a sharpie so you know which side is which (for example you'd know a side with a dot will attract a side without a dot…)

I believe everything except the watchtowers should be able to print without supports. I would also suggest using .2mm layer height or higher just because it'll take days to print multiple things most likely - also 30% - 40% infill sounds about right but its up to you, I'd say do at least 2 walls and 3 top/bottom layers  just so the magnet holes are fairly solid.

I can upload the fusion model if anyone wants to remix to make things smaller or add new organisers - just let me know.

I'll probably print some of these myself soon, but I'd love to see any makes if anyone decides to try them out - and feedback…
