I made this to as a small standalone terminal for a mini pc I am developing interactive displays with but it can also be used as a small PC for raspberry Pi's or even as a second monitor. I designed all the parts to be printable on most standard size print beds and all of the pieces were printed on my Ender 3.
To build this as I have built it you will need the following hardware:
Display
- Waveshare 7 inch display or clone
- 3 (minimum 2) 2020 Vslot nuts
- 3 (minimum 2) M4x6mm machine screws or whatever size screw your vslot nuts use. I recommend no longer than 6mm.
- 4 M3 screws. I designed the holes so that they could self tap effectively into the plastic but if you want more security you could use 12mm or larger screws and use an M3 nut on the back
2020 Stand
- 1x 2020 aluminum extrusion. You can use a piece as small as 150 or 200mm but I wouldn't recommend anything larger than 400mm.
- 3 (minimum 2) 2020 Vslot nuts
- 3 (minimum 2) M4x6mm machine screws or whatever size screw your vslot nuts use. I recommend no longer than 6mm.
In addition to the hardware listed you will also need between one and two micro USB cables depending on your display as well as an HDMI or HDMI to micro HDMI cable if you are using a raspberry pi 4.
Stand and Screen Assembly
- Screw the screws for the stand into the vslot nuts keeping them fairly loose but tight enough so that the Vslot can slide into them and into the hole in the base.
- Jam the vslot into the stand keeping it flush with the bottom and ensuring the nuts slide into the vslot. I added .5mm all around to count for calibration issues which left mine snug enough on two separate printers.
- Put the screws and vslot nuts similarly on the display bracket (do not install the display).
- slide the display on and ensure that the longer display mounts are on the bottom to give it a slight tilt which helps with viewing angle.
I did not design a case for the raspberry pi for this as I am using a Mini Pc but you can use one like the one below if you wish to use this with the raspberry pi from the user whoppingpochard.

Pretty much any accessories that mount to 2020 extrusion will mount and if you are using a MINI pc like I am I would recommend you spring for the extra vesa mount that most of them have available and mount it to the extrusion using 2020 nuts.
Hope you like it!
