About This
Made this holder to hold Nespresso or Nespresso-compatible pods on anything large metal surface (fridge, microwave, etc.)
Parts Explanation
The model is split into three parts so it can easily be printed on smaller printers. Only the “Top” and “Bottom” pieces have inserts (2 each) for 8x3mm round magnets.
- Bottom: This part is open on one side and closed on the other, so the pods don't go through. On the open side, it has prongs to attach other parts to it.
- Middle: This part is open on both sides so pods can pass through it. It has slots on one end and prongs on the other to attach to other parts.
- Top: This part is also open on both sides. One of the sides has slots to attach other pieces to it. The other side is flush for a nice finish. That is where the pods are slotted in/taken out.
If there is interest I can make different sizes of Top/Bottom pieces for different number of pods or different use cases.
Printing Instructions
Print vertically with the “prongs” up and slots down. No supports needed.
My pieces were printed with 0.25 mm layer height. Higher layer heights make the surface rougher and make it more difficult for the pieces to fit. Experiment with variable height around the prongs depending on your printer's tolerance/accuracy.
Assembly Instructions
Parts
The parts just fit together, in the arrangement explained above. The fit is quite tight, so it shouldn't come out easily.
The best way to fit them together is to lay them flat on a table and then slide them towards each other. This makes sure no forces are applied in directions that can break off the prongs.
I used glue on the first few joints but then realized it is not needed.
Magnets
The magnets can be just slotted in or held in place with some superglue. Without glue, the magnets stay in their place and the part is securely held. The glue just makes it easier to attach/detach from the metal surface without the magnets coming out.
