Make a desk hutch with standard 5/8" closet shelving boards. Pictured is a 10x36" Rubbermaid closet shelf. Legs formed from cutting 8" sections of another identical board. Use #8x1/2" wood screws to secure the boards. Glue will stiffen it up, but it is plenty strong without it. Four brackets are needed for a shelf, six screws per bracket (you can use fewer without compromising much).
PLA works, but PETG or ASA would be better as you can split the PLA brackets with the screws if you go too far.
When installing, put the brackets on the horizontal shelf first and fully seat the board into the corner of the brace. Then insert the legs so that when it is set up, the top board sits on top of the legs for maximum strength.
