IKEA Markus Caster Replacement Feet

Replacement Feet for the Ikea Markus chair, recycling the metal rods from the Casters.

Two variants are included, one requiring a grommet to provide friction mounting on the metal Stem, another without, which would instead require adhesives to remain mounted.

Suitable for use if:

• The rubberised coating on the casters is degrading, leaving residue on your floor.
• You play simulator games and are sick of sliding backwards when you use pedals.
• You have no intention of reusing the original casters.
• You wish to install felt stoppers under the feet to minimise damage to hardwood flooring

Please note extracting the Stem from the Casters is a destructive process.
 

Grommet Specifications

Installation Guide

1. Remove the casters from the base of the chair.
2. Using a large pair of pliers, grip the collar in the centre of the Stem, and then use a screwdriver to lever the caster off of the Stem.
3. Clean all the grease from the lower section of the Stem.
4. (If using a grommet version): Insert the grommet into the recess, this is supposed to be a snug, firm fit. Use small needle-nose pliers to force the grommet into position over the groove.
   (If using the standard version): Ensure all grease is thoroughly removed from the Stem, apply a generous quantity of an appropriate adhesive that will not react negatively with your print material.
5. Insert the Stem into the foot, ensuring the correct end (with the metal clip) is facing outwards. This will be firm on the grommet version. Use of a desktop press, vice, or your entire body weight may be necessary.
6. Wait for adhesive to cure (if necessary), then reinstall into the chair base.
