To avoid the soap to sog on the dish I designed a grid to create separation between soap and base.
Given the difficulties to measure the soap dish accurately and the low amount of filament I had left, I also designed a separation ring. This was needed to perfect the fit since the grid would wiggle in the soapdish and wasn't high enough to drain the water properly.
I printed them in two different prints and with lower layer quality for the ring since it's not visible when “assembled”. But this is not critical for production.
Material:
I used PLA for the first proptotipe because of availability. No doubt that, ABS would be a better material for something that is always in conctact with water.
I also used concentric lines pattern for the bottom and top layers as the provide the best watertightness.
