Having switched to a Manta M5P to control my custom Bear2.1 build, needed to design a new case for it.

Set out that I wanted to retain access to all the IO ports externally, use clamped cable guides, and have a door for easy access. And this is the result. be aware that the case does hang a little over the rear of the printer, but there is no avoiding this whilst keeping access to the cables in the right spot.

Model is in 6 parts, and you'll require the following;

  • 1x Main Body
  • 1x Door
  • 1x Extruder Cable Clamp
  • 1x Bed Cable Clamp
  • 2x Hinge A
  • 2x Hinge B

Recommend printing in PETG, with 0.4mm nozzle, and 0.2mm layer heights. Models have been designed to print without supports. The main body and door have built in supports against the bed that need to be popped out after printing. Also the slots for squares nuts will require clearing out prior to insertion of the nuts. Note that all the square nut slots (bar the bed clamp) have holes to help removal of the nuts.

To mount up to the printer, require the following hardware;

  • 10x M3 hex nut (4 for board mounting, 4 for door hinge mounting, 2 for hinge)
  • 6x M3 Square nut (2 for door, 2 for extruder cable clamp, 2 for bed cable clamp)
  • 4x M3x8 Screw (for door hinge mounting)
  • 8x M3x10 Screw (4 for board mounting, 2 for extruder cable clamp, 2 for bed cable clamp)
  • 2x M3x18 for door hinge
  • 2x M3x10 for door closing
  • 3x M5x8 screw (for mounting case to frame with T-Nuts)

Recommend using fabric covers on the cable bundles, and then using a ziptie on the inside to help stop pull out. There is also a hole for the nylon rod for the extruder cable bundle. The lower opening can be used to route PSU, Screen, Y and Z motor cables. There is also enough room internally to plug in a USB cable for a Logitech C270 webcam (as it has an annoyingly big plug!)

WiFi aerial for the CB1/CB2 module can be placed on the ‘WiFi’ pad on the rear of the case.
