This part is designed to carry Aqara's Zigbee Door/Window sensor and recess it as subtly as possible within either the door frame or door. Installation of the sensor into the door frame avoids mortising the door and potentially introducing a weak spot; important to consider for use on external doors. Installing the sensor into the door means fitting the magnet to the door frame, which can be puttied/painted over making fitment completely invisible from most normal viewing angles.

Two versions of the mount have been uploaded. One incorporates a ¼" radius when the recess is cut using a ½" router bit. The other uses square corners where the recess is cut with a chisel. The face of the mount is 75mm x 25mm, so existing latch jigs of 25mm width may be used, however the jig will need to be ‘shuffled along’ where it is shorter than 75mm.

2x 6g countersunk screws of an appropriate length are used to secure the mount to the door/door frame. Replacement of the sensor battery/access to the button on the sensor requires the mount to be unscrewed from the door/door frame, however the sensor does not need to be removed from the mount.
