Open Swords is a project that aims to make historical fencing available to anyone!
Comes in both curved and straight quillon versions.
The only tools you need to build one of these is a 3D Printer, a heat gun, and a screwdriver!
With the settings below, and a 3/4in dowel from the hardware store, you can expect to get a dagger that comes in just over 130g

Hardware:
All screw holes are designed with a #4x1/2" wood screw in mind, but #6x1/2" should also work. It simply won't be as neatly flush.
For the Guard:
I recommend a brim and 15% infill for all nozzle diameters
| Nozzle Diameter | Perimeter Count | Top and Bottom Layers | Layer Height |
| 0.4mm nozzle | 4 | 8 | 0.2mm |
| 0.6mm nozzle | 3 | 6 | 0.3mm |
| 0.8mm nozzle | 2 | 4 | 0.4mm |
For the Handle:
I recommend a brim and 15% infill for all nozzle diameters.
Printing with fuzzy skin will add enough roughness to easily grip the handle! The recommended settings are as follows:
- Fuzzy skin: Outside walls
- Fuzzy skin thickness: 0.15mm
- Fuzzy skin point distance: 0.3mm
| Nozzle Diameter | Perimeter Count | Top and Bottom Layers | Layer Height |
| 0.4mm nozzle | 2 | 4 | 0.2mm |
| 0.6mm nozzle | 2 | 4 | 0.3mm |
| 0.8mm | 2 | 3 | 0.4mm |
