The Herrnhuter Stern (Moravian Star) is a famous german advent decoration symbolising the Star of Bethlehem. It is typically made of paper and its shape is based on a rhombicuboctahedron.
This model uses the polypanels joints from makeanything. The star can easily be assembled and dissasembled without fasteners or glue. It is illuminated with an E14 led bulb.

Check out the build guide if you have problems during the assembly.

This version is designed to be printable on the Prusa MK3. You can also check out my smaller version with gift box, whitch fits on the Mini.

Printing instructions

I printed the parts with natural PLA form Das Filament. Make sure, you have a good quality PLA filament with good layer addhesion. Otherwise the parts may be to brittle. Also don't use PETG as it is to soft to make a good clip connection. You may want to choose "random" for the seam position to get an ice-like effect.

Slicer settings:
Rafts: No
Supports: No
Resolution: 0,2
Infill: 15%
Filament: PLA

Printed parts:
17x star_square.stl
8x star_triangle.stl
1x star_square_socket.stl

Other parts:
E14 Socket (e.g. IKEA Strala)
E14 LED bulb

Do not use an incandescent bulb.
