The goal of this project is to provide FDM-friendly replacement part CAD that is as close to stock parts as possible. This will allow CC owners to print replacement parts easily, and also serve as a base for future modifications

Background:

Elegoo Provided us accurate CAD of many structural components of the Centauri carbon, most of these are also identical on the Centauri Carbon 2. However these designs are optimized for injection molding rather than FDM printing so I and other OC community members have begun working on optimizing these designs for FDM printing. by filling in ribs, modifying overhangs, and changing hole dimensions from those for injection molding inserts to voron style m3x4x5 heatsets, etc.

Current Status

Built in support has not been added to all models where it is required. further improvements may need to be done on some of these models- these are not tested designs and if you run into problems or want to contribute changes reach out on the opencentauri discord or make a pull request on the OC CAD github. The following parts are included

  • carriage part

  • Extruder parts

  • Front idler mounts

  • Motor mounts

  • bed mounts

  • Z belt tensioner

  • top rod/leadscrew mounts

Additionally not all models are particularly well suited for direct FDM optimization and better scratch designs from the community are available. In particular this applies to:

Printing and use instructions:

General reccomended parameters are reflected in the 3MF files. You do not want to skimp on strength.

ABS/ASA minimum recommended. Counterbore bridging was used to eliminate support requirements where possible but in other places built in supports (in green) are part of the printable base models as discrete objects, they are optimized for printing with 0.2 mm layer height. DO NOT ADD EXTRA SUPPORT. orientation for printing should be fairly obvious, all built in supports contact the bed. The Z tensioner is split into two halves which are printed seperately and screwed together. You will need m3x5x4mm heatset inserts for this, as well some m2.5 heatsets ones for the carriage. They must be the following style and not injection molding type inserts.

Changelog:

Update 3/7/26: refine supports, add 3mf and stls

Update 2/27/26: made motor mounts printable on diagonals as shown above

Update 2/24/26: added more presupported models, removed some built in supports in favor of more sophisticated counterbore bridging methods to make parts printable support free

Update 2/19/26: added additional parts, added built-in supports most parts that require support (with the exception of the motormounts), these assume a 0.2 or 0.25 layer height. Currently untested They are in green in the STEP files but should be obvious- you may need to do one round of splitting into objects in the slicer so that fasteners can be removed but the built in supports are bodies within the printable component so they should be unaffected.
