No magnets required – just a common M3 steel screw.
This 3D printed bit adapter combines a Multiboard 8-sided shaft with a standard bit shank, allowing it to snap into mechanical bit holders (Bosch tested).
To make it compatible with magnetic bit holders, simply insert a standard M3x4 mm steel countersunk screw.
The screw acts as a steel core and is attracted by the magnet in the holder – no additional magnets required.
The M3 screw is optional. Without it, the bit will still work in mechanical holders, but it will not be magnetic.
Torque & Strength
Torque testing showed that the adapter is much stronger than the Multiboard thread, meaning the board will fail before the bit.
Recommended Use
Tested with Bosch IXO
Use a torque-limiting head to avoid damaging the board
Ideal for light assembly tasks directly on Multiboard
Recommended Print Settings
Material: PETG
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Perimeters: 5
Infill: 20–40%
No supports required
Notes
Designed for moderate torque only
The adapter is stronger than the Multiboard threads.
Use steel screws (most stainless screws are not magnetic)
How it was tested
The adapter was tested in real-world use with a Bosch IXO screwdriver and Multiboard components.
Test setup
Printed in PETG with 5 perimeters and 0.2 mm layer height
Adapter inserted into a standard mechanical bit holder (Bosch tested)
Mounted into Multiboard using standard Multiboard threads
Torque applied using a Bosch IXO with torque-limiting head
Test procedure
The adapter was inserted into the bit holder and mounted to Multiboard.
Torque was gradually increased using the IXO torque head.
Failure mode was observed (thread pull-out vs. adapter failure).
Results
The adapter did not fail during testing.
The Multiboard thread failed before the adapter, confirming the adapter is stronger than the board interface.
The steel M3 screw reliably enabled retention in magnetic bit holders.
