In the Viking age, a warrior's status was shown by having a sword, the peasants unable to afford swords used wood axes. But everything changed with the invention of the Broadaxe: a long handled, lighter weight, axe with a large cutting edge, designed solely for combat.

The Langeid Broadaxe was found in grave 8 in Setesdalen valley: Langeid, Norway; laying alongside a coffin, on the other side of the coffin, lay an Ornate Sword.

Printing:

I printed it as one piece, with supports, in the orientation it is now in. I have also included a cut version with alignment pins, the cut pieces can be printed with no supports.

I recommend at least three perimeters to maximize the strength of the thin parts.

Assembly:

The axe is designed to fit onto a 1 inch diameter dowel rod, the axe handle should be about 43 inches long. I designed the axe head to fit very tightly onto the dowel rod, the rod will most likely need to be sanded down to fit the axe head.

For the gold part, I taped the end off and painted it.
