Introduction
Give an old Framework Laptop 12 mainboard a second life — and turn it into something that looks like it has already survived a crash.

The Framework Flight Recorder is a fully 3D-printable enclosure for the Framework Laptop 12 mainboard and battery. Instead of hiding the hardware in a conventional computer case, the original components are rearranged into a compact L-shaped assembly and placed inside a flight-recorder-inspired housing.
The result is a new life for hardware that might otherwise end up forgotten in a drawer — preferably without ever having to be recovered from an actual crash site.
Colouring / MMU
The Front Plate and Flight Recorder Housing feature 0.02 mm recessed details for easy MMU colouring. This allows the lettering, stripes and other design details to be printed in different colours without additional painted parts or complicated post-processing.
Assembly Instructions

1. Mount the Framework mainboard and battery to the Mainboard & Battery Mount.
2. Attach the handle and dummy capacitor to the Front Plate using their respective printed screws and nuts.
3. Screw the four printed feet into the bottom of the Rear & Bottom Bracket.
4. Place the Mainboard & Battery Mount with the installed mainboard and battery onto the Rear & Bottom Bracket.
5. Insert the four threaded rods through the Rear & Bottom Bracket and the Mainboard & Battery Mount.
6. Screw the four threaded rods into the Front Plate.
7. Before fully tightening the threaded rods, place the Flight Recorder Housing over the assembled components.
8. Tighten all four threaded rods to secure the assembly inside the housing.
