MKS DLC32 + TS35-R plotter enclosure

See https://stephenc.github.io/post/2026-10-02-building-a-plotter-part-2/

A ventilated controller enclosure designed for fitting an MKS DLC32 V2.x controller and MKS TS35-R V2.0 touchscreen to a CDLC7-UP CoreXY plotter.

The display mounts in the front cover, with the DLC32 positioned directly behind it. The enclosure attaches to the plotter’s aluminium extrusions using two removable spacer blocks and M3 T-nuts.

Included files

  • 1× rear tray

  • 1× front touchscreen cover

  • 1× extrusion spacer — print two copies

  • 1× screen-hole gauge — optional test print

I strongly recommend printing the screen-hole gauge before committing to the full enclosure. MKS board revisions can have small dimensional differences.

Features

  • Mounting points for the MKS DLC32

  • Front mounting for the MKS TS35-R V2.0

  • Openings for the controller connectors and cabling

  • 40 × 20 mm cooling-fan mount

  • Side intake grille and guarded exhaust

  • Removable extrusion-mounting spacers

  • Recessed touchscreen opening

Material recommendation

PETG or ASA is recommended. Avoid PLA if possible.

The stepper drivers and controller can produce elevated internal temperatures, particularly during long plotting jobs. PLA may soften or deform over time in a warm enclosure. PETG is a good general-purpose choice; ASA is preferable where greater temperature resistance is required.

A continuously running 40 × 20 mm fan is recommended. Match the fan voltage to the plotter supply—do not connect a 12 V fan directly to a 24 V supply.

Suggested print orientation

  • Tray: rear face on the build plate

  • Cover: front face on the build plate

  • Spacers: largest flat face on the build plate

  • Screen-hole gauge: flat on the build plate

Suggested starting settings:

  • 0.2 mm layer height

  • At least 3 perimeters

  • 20–30% infill

  • PETG or ASA

Hardware

  • 4× M3 screws for the DLC32

  • 4x M3 heatset inserts for the DLC32

  • 4× M3 screws for the touchscreen

  • 4× M3 screws for the cover

  • 4× M3 screws and matching T-nuts for the aluminium extrusions

  • 1× 40 × 20 mm fan with a 32 × 32 mm mounting pattern

The enclosure was designed around a Noctua NF-A4x20-style fan pattern.

Important fit note

The DLC32 dimensions are based on Makerbase drawings. The TS35-R outline is based on the official DXF, while its mounting-hole positions were measured from the physical hardware. Check the supplied gauge against your screen before printing the complete enclosure.
