The ultimate and final solution you'll ever need for quick and easy winding and storage of cords, ropes, etc. Comes equipped with numerous features:
- Winding fixture
- Storage rail
- Winder
- Toothed slot for attaching cord before winding
- Set of holes for helping secure the end of the cord after winding
- Hook to hang neatly wrapped cords on the storage rail
- Slot and hole for taking the wrapped cord on-the-go (i.e. carabiner, Velcro strap, etc.)
I made the design in OnShape and and it is comprised of the following parts:
- Winder rack
- Crank
- Crank screw
- Slotted coupler
- Expansion storage rack (optional) - coming soon!
There are also two versions of the winder rack and expansion storage rack, with one sized for the standard Prusa print bed and the other for the Prusa MINI print bed.
Note: The hook slots shown in the example photos have since been moved for more secure mounting.
Printing
I printed in Burnt Titanium PLA and PolyLite Silk Bronze on the Prusa i3 MK3. No supports necessary! Part files are oriented how I recommend printing so change the orientation at your own risk.
Assembling
Just slide the slotted coupler into the right side of the winder fixture (the only side that will fit it), fit the crank over the square section of the coupler, and tighten the screw to secure the crank to the coupler. The racks have spots for adhesive strips (recommended) for mounting to walls as well as slots for mounting with hooks or nails. Once its mounted securely, you're ready to wind!
