I looked for a Zigbee temperature and humidity sensor to replace my old jeelink sensors, which I'm using in my house to watch room temperatures and humidity. So I found the “TuYa ZTH05 Temperature and Humidity Sensor” on AliExpress. The problem is, that the builtin battery (CR2032) only last 6 to 9 months. To get a better battery life time I want to power them using two AAA batteries. I have done this too on my other fun project: ZTH05 Retro TV case. But this time I want to design a completely new case and putting the display and the pcb from the ZTH05 in. So I designed these simple case based on straight lines and with an mount, which can be used within my filament boxes.

To build this you need an AAA batteries holder case for 2 batteries (many available on AliExpress) and the ZTH05 sensor and the printed parts (I used PETG because of the UV resistance).

At first disassemble the ZTH05 sensor by removing the back plate and then the PCB.

Now solder the AAA battery holder case to the ZTH05 PCB

And now it can be assembled by using the printed full case body and backplane. The display can easily put into the body with the contact rubbers on top of the case body.

Then place the PCB (with electronic on top) over the display below the 2 mounts in the top sideof the case and carefully bend it down until it snaps under the mount. Use a screw driver to put the mount a little bit away.

The AAA battery holder case can moved with a little strength from the side into the place of the backplate.

As the last put the batteries into the batteries holder case an snap the backplate on the case body. If all was done right, the display should show the temperature and humidity.
