English Description
I had the problem that my ceiling didn’t just have a cable coming out of it but a roughly 6 cm wide metal tube. Because of that, the original mounting bracket of my Farbflut Design lamp couldn’t be fixed directly to the ceiling – the screw holes were simply too close together.
To solve this, I designed a simple yet sturdy adapter in FreeCAD that sits between the ceiling and the lamp’s original bracket. It presses the lamp base firmly against the ceiling without affecting its function or appearance.
The adapter is slightly smaller than the lamp base so that it fits neatly underneath. There’s a central opening for the cable and open ends to allow a bit of flexibility during installation.
The model is fully parametric, so you can easily adjust dimensions and hole spacing in FreeCAD. I’ve included both the STL and the FreeCAD source file so you can modify it for your own setup.
Print Settings
- Material: PLA (e.g., Prusament Jet Black)
- Infill: 70 %
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Supports: not required
- Orientation: flat
Installation
- Feed the cable through the central hole first.
- Screw the adapter to the ceiling so that it presses the lamp bracket firmly against it.
- Mount the lamp as usual.
Notes
- For heavier lamps or warmer environments, PETG or ASA is recommended.
- The adapter is designed to be invisible once the lamp is mounted.
- If you’re facing a similar issue with large ceiling openings or hollow ceiling mounts, this model is easy to adapt — just edit the parameters in FreeCAD, and you’re done.
Deutsche Beschreibung
