I wanted an exhaust plenum that would allow me to extract the fumes or recirculate depending on what I needed.

27Feb2026 Update:

I recently started using the ModulAir Exhaust system from on Makerworld.  I really like the easy twist adaptation, so I designed a duct adapter to integrate with that system

26Jan2026 Update:

Per a request I've uploaded (2) alternate main bodies.  They both use magnets and the chute fastener locations to secure the main body.  This way you don't have to remove the back panel to install this mod.  I used 6x2mm magnets since I think they're fairly common.  I've used them on a number of projects including my gridfinity items.  If needed, I can add alternates for different size magnets as well.

External view of main body with magnets:

Section cut of main body with magnets embedded:

The main difference between these main bodies is one relies on you to bond the magnets in, while the other requires you to pause the print near the top and embed the magnets in the print prior to finishing.  The later is my preference because it's cleaner and easier to accomplish IMHO.

View of chute closeout:

I also uploaded a Chute Closeout per request.  You can use this if you have the internal purge mod or don't require an external purge chute for some reason.

Please let me know if there are any other changes that people want to see.

Initial Release:

I designed this exhaust management plenum as a way to switch between recirculating chamber air or exhausting air to my extraction system.

When the gates are closed, the air recirculates for more efficient chamber temperature control.  But when the gates are open, the air can be routed to an exhaust system of your choosing.

Features:

  1. Easy to install.  Just need to remove and reinstall back panel.

  2. Printed with minimal waste or supports needed.

  3. Channel for 3mm seal to be installed.  Recommend this one or anything like it.

  4. Simple mechanical gates to switch air flow.

  5. No clogged or obstructed poop chute.

  6. Gate is easily operated by feel only.

  7. Optimized to be low profile for space. Projects only 81mm from the back panel.

This design does rely on M3 heated inserts to secure the ducts, gates, and main body together.  If there is enough interest, I can look into modifying the design to use hex nuts to secure the assembly, and/or magnets to mount to the back panel.

As always, please provide me with any feedback on how to improve the design.
