TROFAST PVC Shelf Kit

Ever looked at your IKEA TROFAST drawers and thought: "I wish I could build the exact shelf I need instead of the one IKEA decided I needed?" Same. This project is for you.

PVC tubes are available at every hardware store on the planet, including that sketchy one you found while lost on a road trip 🗺. Which means this shelf works just as well in your garage as it does in the back of your campervan 🚐, your glamping tent ⛺, or your suspiciously well-organised yurt. It's modular, lightweight, disassembles in minutes, and TROFAST drawers keep your camping socks separate from your camping coffee supplies (priorities ☕🧦).

This system replaces the IKEA frame entirely with 16mm PVC tubes and a handful of 3D-printed parts, so you get exactly the width, height, and drawer combination you want, not what fits on a flat-pack shelf.

📦 WHAT'S IN THE ZIP

Connectors (left, right, middle — each in standard + top variant)

The structural nodes of the frame. Side connectors cap the ends; middle connectors let a horizontal tube pass straight through for multi-column builds.

Rails (one-sided for outer columns, double-sided for middle columns)

Two rails per side of each drawer. The rail join clips around the PVC tube so the tube itself bears the drawer's weight.

Rail joins

Wraps around the tube and locks the pair of rails in place. The tube carries the load; the join keeps everything aligned.

• Tube outer diameter 16mm (standard PVC pipe)

• Vertical insert 15mm into each connector (top + bottom)

• Horizontal insert 20mm into side connectors

• Middle passthrough 24mm (tube runs all the way through)

🖨 PRINT SETTINGS

• Material: PLA is fine indoors

• Layer height: 0.28 mm

• Infill: 10-15 %

• Walls: 2 perimeters

• Supports: check per part — some connectors may need them

🔧 ASSEMBLY TIPS

• Cut all tubes first

• Dry-fit everything before gluing.

• PVC cement is optional for a permanent install; press-fit is enough for a camping setup you want to disassemble later.

• The "top" variant of each connector omits the upper tube insert — use it on the top row so nothing sticks out above the shelf.
