Summary:

due to firmware settings, the steppers will shut down after 120 seconds!!

Any force, that is applied, after a time of 2 miuntes without movement, through the bowden or extruder cable to the x-carrige will result in a position change and layer shift!!!

To reduce that issue behavior it is very helpful to have a printer site setup, where the x and y-carrige always balanced in their movement vectors, that means, no latented force (e.g. in cable or bowden) is applied to the carrige.

It is always ideal, to release such forces, if these forces which are happens in the operation are deducted into vectors which does not influece the movement vector of that axis.

For the cables, there are already a lot of mods available, e.g. a heatbed connector that is not straight ahead like the stock connector (vector of heatbed cable = vector of the y-axis movement.

But till now, I didnt find a working solution for the bowden at the MK4. But here I oriented on how this is done at Bambu and designed a bowden guide, the deducts the bowden force away from toolhead in two ways.

  1. putting forces to the Y-Axis and,
  2. avoids forces on X-axis, if the bowden hits the ceiling of the enclosure, if not guided.

Idealy, the bowden should be arranged in a U-shaped path, and the bowden is mounted left or right aside the printer.

Do not mount the bowden centerd, then the movement of the bowden i too strong if the carriage changes from left to right.

If you also have issues with stucking/jammed filament in the extruder on load/unload?
For a solution, just have a look here.
