The stock caps that come with precision knives are notoriously easy to lose, crack over time, or slide off unexpectedly. This design offers a tight, reliable friction-fit replacement tailored for the two most common hobby knife handle diameters: 8mm and 11mm. [1]
📐 Two Sizes Included:
8mm Version: Fits standard slim precision knives (like the classic X-Acto No. 1 / Z-Series).
11mm Version: Fits thicker, heavy-duty hobby knife handles. [1, 2, 3]
🛠 Key Features
Anti-Roll Design: Features subtle flat edges or ridges [Nota: Modifica esto si tu diseño usa otra geometría, p. ej. hexagonal] to prevent your knife from rolling off your workbench.
Finger-Safe Snap: Designed with optimal internal tolerances to grip the knurled part of the handle firmly without slipping.
Heavy Duty: Thicker walls than stock plastic caps to prevent the blade from accidentally piercing through.
📐 Print Settings
To ensure a perfect friction-fit and structural durability, print the caps upright (standing on the closed base). [1]
Supports: No supports needed!
Brim: Highly Recommended (a 3mm - 5mm brim is advised to secure the part to the bed, as it is a tall and narrow print).
Material: PLA, PETG, or ABS/ASA (PETG provides a tiny bit of flexibility which makes the click-lock fit feel amazing).
Layer Height: 0.15mm - 0.20mm (lower layer heights help achieve smooth inner walls for a perfect fit).
Infill: 20% - 100% (Since it's a small part, high infill or extra perimeters will ensure the top doesn't break if dropped).
💡 Tips for a Perfect Fit
If the cap feels slightly tight on the first insert, slide it on and off a couple of times. The knurling on your knife will smoothly seat into the plastic for a custom, secure snap.
Ensure your printer's flow and e-steps are well-calibrated so the internal diameters match exactly 8.0mm and 11.0mm. [1, 2]
