About this model

This gauge allows you to gauge radii and mark a radius precicely on a sharp corner. It also can act as a visual aid on how a rounded corner will look like after routing or sanding.

There are several radius gauges out there, but I did not find one with stops for the side edges of a corner as a guide. So I created one. I put common router bit radii on it, as this will likely be my most common usecase.

There are two versions, one for multicolor printers, where you can paint the markings for the radius sizes, and one for regular setups where the markings are indented 0.6mm (3 layers on standard 0.2mm layer height)

Make sure to print the model lying flat on the top with the radii (corner stops pointing up), so there are no overhangs. There are no supports needed. Make sure your printer is tuned to have precise measurements. If you have a multicolor printer setup, you can color in the radius size markings.

Printing
  • 0.2mm layer height

  • 10-15% infill (cubic or gyroid or similar, not lightning)

  • 3 or more perimeters

  • Some printers produce more accurate measurements if the outer perimeter is printed first, so you might try this. There are no overhangs, this should not cause problems.

If you want to go the extra mile for printing, you can paint the seams to be positioned in the clearance holes for the contact surfaces. That way seams won't disturb the contact area and you will get a clean contact at both sides.
