8-Inch X-Frame FPV Drone Frame – Designed for iFlight XING2 Motors

A functional, simulation-tested 8-inch FPV drone frame designed for strength, stability, and practical assembly. This custom X-frame is designed around iFlight XING2 motors and supports 4-inch propellers, making it a versatile platform for custom FPV builds and engineering projects.

Features

8-inch frame design with a rigid X-frame configuration.

iFlight XING2 motor compatibility, designed around the XING2 motor series.

4-inch propeller compatibility for compact, responsive builds.

Integrated mounting holes for screws and component installation.

Central electronics mounting area for a flight controller and other onboard components.

Structural design optimized for strength, with a focus on reducing unnecessary material.

CAD and simulation tested, with structural simulations completed under the selected loading conditions.

Designed for Custom FPV Builds

The frame features a central electronics section connected to four integrated arms, with dedicated motor-mounting platforms at each end. Its mounting provisions make it suitable for assembling a custom quadcopter using compatible motors, electronics, and hardware.

Important Notes

This is a custom-designed frame. Please verify your motor mounting pattern, propeller clearance, electronics dimensions, and screw sizes before assembly. Simulation results depend on the applied loads, material properties, and boundary conditions; physical flight testing and safety checks are still required before flight.

Printing Instructions

  • Material: PETG recommended for a balance of strength, durability, and heat resistance.

  • Printer: Use a well-calibrated FDM 3D printer.

  • Orientation: Print the frame flat on the build plate, with the bottom surface facing down.

  • Layer height: 0.16–0.20 mm.

  • Infill: 40–60%, using gyroid or cubic infill.

  • Walls: 5–8 perimeters for stronger arms and motor mounts.

  • Top/bottom layers: 5–7 layers.

  • Supports: Enable supports only where necessary, particularly around overhangs in the central electronics section and mounting features.

  • Build plate adhesion: Use a brim if needed to prevent warping.

  • Post-processing: Remove supports carefully and check all screw holes and motor mounts for fit before assembling.
