PowerCube Original USB – under-desk mount (2 parts)

Holds a Cubenest PowerCube Original USB (measured 76 × 76 × 76 mm body; the spec sheet says 73mm but mine older one is 76) under a desk,

rotated 45° so all 4 sockets, both USB ports and the rear plug stay usable.

Each upper face has a 1.8 mm flap, hinged along a line parallel to the cube's length (about 5 mm from the top corner).

A 2 mm lip at its outer edge hooks over the cube's front edge.

In the print orientation the hinge is vertical, so the flap bends along its layers, not across them.

At full deflection the hinge strain is about 1 %, which PETG handles easily.

The lower edge of each flap rises at 45° and the flaps stay clear of the upper sockets.

Files

powercube_plate.stl | desk plate with dovetail, stays on the desk | flat, desk side down (as exported)

powercube_adapter.stl | cube holder, slides onto the plate | standing on its back end (as exported)

powercube_fit_test.stl | 6 mm ring to check the cube fit (~10 min)

Print (Prusa MK3S, 0.3 mm DRAFT)

PETG, 0.3 mm layers, 3–4 perimeters, 20–25 % gyroid, no supports.

Plate heights are multiples of 0.3 mm. All overhangs are 45° or less, except small screw-hole ceilings.

- plate ≈ 89 × 78 × 15.6 mm

- adapter ≈ 146 × 114 × 86 mm (sized for a 76 mm cube)

Use PETG rather than PLA: the cube flaps and the dovetail latch are springs.

Fit

1. Print the fit test. The cube should slide in with light friction.

Shortcomings

  • flaps to secure cube in place are too small -> not an issue, double sided tape can be used as stopper

  • dove tail rail is bit too loose but does it job
