Introduction This rubber band gun is based on the clever trigger mechanism used in “M1911 Rubber band gun” (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing: 3053501) and “MINI rubber band pistol” (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2740883). The goal…
This bottle cap gun solves that problem of eliminating the cap. Pop the cap then shoot it. This is an original design based on the example seen on Thingiverse . The left and right sides print nicely on a 200mm print bed but, they need to…
Introduction This is my attempt at a printed catapult design. I needed axel pivots to hold the parts in place so decided to use 1/8” (3mm) dowels instead of printing axels. So, while the card is printing, go down to the local hardware…
When I was growing up on a farm in upstate New York, the 174th Fighter Wing “the boys from Syracuse” would fly over with their A-10’s traveling from Hancock Field to exercises at Fort Drum. I was always impressed at their low altitude as…
Description I was replacing the clothesline with a new rope but the old tensioner was rusty and wouldn’t work. This is the replacement that can be used with up to half inch (12mm) rope. You may need to manually rotate the cams to lock…
If you use Keurig Cups, print this holder/dispenser to avoid fumbling for the immediate flavor that you desire. The dispenser features a last-in first-out storage. Or, cups may be removed from one side and inserted into the other side for…
Before starting this model, you need to decide which weapon you wish to construct. If this is for a younger person, think about the nearby environment. I.e. are there a number of buildings/windows within range of an accidental shot? A…
There are molds for bricks, fancy bricks with mitered corners, square bricks, cylindrical pillars, capital bricks for pillars and an assortment of cap molds for decorating the tops of walls and buildings. The brick and cylinder molds have…
If you do any reasonable amount of 3D printing you will accumulate short pieces of filament from the ends of rolls. The pieces will be too short for another print job but too long to throw out. This filament splicer jig allows pieces of…
Sometimes the design needs a compression or tension spring for optimum operation. And, it would be convenient to be able to print that spring instead of scrounging for an external part for later assembly. As shown in the cover photo, here…
Introduction Pipes and whistles use a resonating air column that’s open at one end and usually closed at the other. The length of these resonating columns are a quarter of a wavelength (plus a small fudge factor). So, different…
Introduction to Ornament.SCAD The SCAD file generates random ornament designs for your printer. Of course your printer may need tuning before printing the ornament. Save a back-up copy of the Ornament.SCAD file so you won’t have any…
This is a simple frame for winding rope, cables, electrical cords, Christmas lights, etc. Printing I printed using ABS with a 0.5mm nozzle and a 0.25mm Z-step. There are two horizontal/side shells and four layers top and bottom. I used…
Introduction: This is the complete Rolling Stock that was designed for my young grandson. When he came for a visit after about age three, his first question was if we could print another rail-car. The answer was “Of course, What kind of…
Before starting a print obtain some 10x2mm magnets. You’ll need two for each position plus two for the slider. I printed with a 0.25mm Z-step and 20% fill. The fidgets were designed to not need support and the pockets are recessed to…
Turn-Table Any self-respecting railroad needs a turntable for obvious reasons. This turntable can be used as a center of a roundhouse (more about this later) or as a center switch for multiple track paths. The basement layout used the…
I was intrigued by model 22400-collapsible-basket-optimized and wanted to experiment with this kind of print-in-place design. The goal was to make a collapsible basket that looked like a pumpkin. Of course, after Halloween you can fold…
Before printing make sure you have a couple of round toothpicks available for the axle pivot shafts. The ones I used were 2mm in diameter so any small stick about that size should work. Larger ones could work if you drill out the holes.…
I wanted a propeller launcher that was simple to operate. The motive force is a rubber band that winds around a spindle and stores the propeller launch energy. But rubber bands break so it needed to be external and easy to replace. You’ll…
This is the gift that keeps on giving. At least until the money runs out. Tape a series of bank notes together in a fan fold pattern using masking tape or any removable tape. Thread the top note through the slot, wrap it up and you have…
Please don’t download all the (STL) design files at one time. Download the first dinosaur design and then shut down your browser while you slice and start the print. Then you can fire up your browser and navigate back in to download…
Have you ever watched someone twiddle their thumbs? After a lot of practice, an “expert” can maneuver their thumbs through perfect orbits without scraping or collision for many minutes. But what if you’re new to this endeavor? This jig is…
I found this game on the internet and put together a copy that can be 3D printed. The cover slides onto the box. This either makes an easily opened piggy bank, or a fun game. An abbreviated copy of the rules is included on the bottom of…
We replaced the old dish washer and after about two weeks it started to smell inside. The new one had a spring that held the door shut unless it was wide open for loading. After running a load the interior is warm, humid and dark, i.e.…
A great toy for the bathtub, pool, or even the creek in the back yard. I had previously built boat models that used a twisted rubber band powering the propeller for propulsion but was disappointed in the performance. A long time was spent…
While designing parts for a “Thomas” size model railroad I found that “Matchbox Cars” had the wrong scale. A “Matchbox Car” was almost the size of a “Thomas” engine, so I needed cars built to a smaller scale. Also, they shouldn’t look…
I use 3D printed boxes for various electronic projects, so I created this SCAD file to generate custom size containers that have a sliding lid. The example box designs are given as STL files. The file labels Box_X_Y_Z.stl provides the box…
The robot has a ponderous gait. Printing Generally I use a 0.25mm layer height and put about 1mm of plastic on the outside surfaces as a shell. Since my printer has a 0.5mm nozzle I use 2 vertical shells and 4 horizontal top and bottom…
Description It’s a little known fact from the first edition of Jules Verne’s book “20,000 Leagues under the Sea” that Captain Nemo initially sailed with the Nautilus-Benchy before it was converted into a full submarine. This model is a…
I’ll bet your young engineer could eat a whole “Locomotive” for breakfast or lunch. This stamp works best with white bread. Whole wheat bread needs to be toasted a bit darker for the best effect. Press this stamp into a slice of bread…
One of the trees in the back yard is a black Oak. After the peak color in the fall, as the leaves curl before dropping, they sometimes form into an aero-dynamical shape that glides instead of falling. Of course many just swirl or dive…
The last bit of toothpaste is difficult to extrude when most of the tube has been used. It squirts to the bottom of the tube and you have to work it back up to the nozzle again before you can brush your teeth. These crimping rollers…
The school didn’t have very good air conditioning where one of my younger friends started teaching. The class room doors were normally blocked open to provide for any cooling and ventilation that was available. Door stops were in demand…

What, you don’t believe that they only have one surface and one edge!!!! OK, start with the simplest shape that has the triangular cross section and get a felt tipped pen so you can draw on it. Now put an “X” on the surface anywhere and…
This cup has a built in siphon as shown in the cross section that only allows the cup to be filled to a certain level. Once more liquid is added above the top of the siphon all the liquid is drained through the base. The same siphon…
You’re cooking and need a magnet to hold your recipe onto the refrigerator, or the stove, or the microwave, or the stove hood. Or, maybe you just received a “turkey” memo and need to stick it onto your white board or file cabinet or metal…
Printing This face is about 4.75 inches (120mm) across and 2mm thick. The Grinch_Eyes.STL are thin discs 0.4mm thick for gluing on the back of the face eyes to provide color. Scale both of the STL files if a different size is desired.
First I want to thank Makkuro for posting the whimsical Reindeer OpenSCAD model. A simple code modification allowed the generation of “running reindeer” poses since according to my current understanding, that’s how they fly. Material…
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale a tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailin' man, the Skipper brave and sure, five passengers set sail that day, for a three…
There are 4 STL versions available. The “Velociraptor_Head” is the original design file. The “Velociraptor_Head_w_Eye” has a cutout for various color replacement eyes. The “Velociraptor_ Head_w_Eye_Flatbottom” has a flat bottom for ease…
Printing The STL files have different tolerances for printing. The Planetary_Gear_Fidget_0p2.stl file has an additional 0.2mm tolerance between gears to account for various printer extrusion settings. The small spur gears may be glued…
There are 4 STL versions available. The “Triceratops_Design_Head” is the original design file. The “Triceratops_Head_w_Eye” has a cutout for various color replacement eyes. The “Triceratops_Head_w_Eye_Flatbottom” has a flat bottom for…
Introduction While this is not an exact copy of Frodo’s ring of power, its visual effects are noteworthy. Of course, some poetic license was taken in the design, especially in integrating the power supply. Alkaline LR41H or zinc-air 312…
Order the PCB LED_XRP_Robot_Eye Discussion This project requires the construction of a printed circuit board (PCB). The board controls an LED using either of the servo motor connectors or one of the Qwiic expansion connectors. The board…
There are 4 STL versions available. The “Vader_Head” is the original design file. The “Vader_Head_w_Eye” has a cutout for various color replacement eyes. The “Vader_Head_w_Eye_Flatbottom” has a flat bottom for ease of printing. And, the…
Introduction A parametric file to create ring mail can be tuned using the input variables to produce both good and miserable results. For example, a small ring diameter (rwidth) with (thick) ring material could create a stuck-together…
