My remix of a Adafruit's and thrutheframe's heatset insert press using MGN9H rails, GT2 20T belt and F695 bearings.
There are several designs available out there, but I wanted one that I could build from what ever spare parts I had laying aorund.
I took inspiration from both Adafruit's and thrutheframe's design.
Some things to note:
Files such as “rail_stop_x4.stl" mean you will need to print 4 pieces.
All parts can be printed in PLA except “solder_iron_bracket_xxxx.stl” which comes in contact with the soldering iron. This part needs to be printed in ABS or ASA. The file “cw_bumper.stl” needs to be printed in TPU. this one is used to soften the stop of the counterweight.
There are two versions of the front bracket arm, one is for a cheap Chinese soldering iron, the other one will fit the solder clamp from Adafruit, gregington and thrutheframe and others (it use the hole distance that is on the Adafruit heat set press).
*Edit: In the spirit of open source, I have add the STEP files for you to refer, edit and remix.
Please note that some of the design choice was based on the items I have at hand.
Enjoy your build, and share your builds.
All files have been oriented in the directions they should be printed in.
Print settings:
- Infill: 40%
- Wall count: 4
- Solid top/bottom layers : 5
- Inlay for counter weight holders should be printed in vasem/spiral mode.
Print settings TPU:
- Infill - 15%
- Wall count: 2
- Solid top/bottom layers : 2
