Replacement liftgate hinge cover for Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU (2007–2018). I made this because I didn’t want to spend $10 on a tiny OEM plastic piece, and I wanted something that looks as close to stock as I could get.

This is the 5th iteration of the design and has been on my Jeep for about 6 months. I’m a Fusion 360 novice, and this project took 25+ hours of design updates and test prints to keep it from snapping, strengthen the weak points, and dial in the fit.

If this model helps you, please consider leaving a like and sharing your make so I can keep creating and improving functional parts.

Remixes are welcome and encouraged. Please share your build—I’d love to see this printed in different colors to add extra personalization.

Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: PETG or ASA (preferred)

  • Infill: 80%

  • Wall loops/perimeters: 4

  • Supports: Tree supports (Auto)

  • Layer height: 0.20 mm (or your normal PETG/ASA profile)

  • Bed adhesion: Optional (brim if needed)

PLA is not recommended for long-term outdoor use due to heat/UV exposure.

Installation

  1. Line up the round hinge section and snap it on (should go on easily, but may be snug).

  2. If needed, use a drop of silicone spray or light oil to help it seat.

  3. Gently press and rotate the bottom into position until fully seated.

  4. Do not force it—light sanding or a small scaling adjustment may help depending on printer/material tolerances.

Fitment Note

Fit may vary due to printer calibration, material shrink, and hinge tolerances (especially with aftermarket parts). Scaling ±0.5–1% or light sanding may be required for the best fit.
