A little axial flux generator made as an experiment for a vertical axis wind turbine. Fits on a 12mm shaft. It doesn't output much power but is a decent example nonetheless. You'll need a minimum build plate size of 200mm x 200mm to print all the parts. The stator comes in three different styles to suit how you'd like to implement: no center hub style, center aligning hole style, or 6001 ball bearing hub style.
Things you'll need that aren't printed:
- x24 M3 screws about 5mm-10mm long
- x24 M3 nuts
- x32 12mm dia. magnets, 3mm thick
- Two-Piece Shaft Collar, 12mm Bore Size, 30mm OD, 10mm Thickness
- Super Glue
- Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
- Magnet Wire, preferably size 22 AWG or smaller
- Lots of time
For winding the coils, I designed a little winding jig to help. There are many ways to wind the wire into coils, this is just one way. The winding jig requires the following supplies:
- x1 608RS Ball Bearing
- x1 20mm M3 Screw
- x1 M3 nut
