DX Engineering balun mount. Originally designed for the DX Engineering Maxi-Core DXE-MC20-C4-1 balun, it is compatible with almost all DX Engineering baluns that feature a similar enclosure and an antenna connection point on top.
The mount includes provisions for suspension and strain relief for the antenna wires; alternatively, strain relief can be routed through the holes located on the sides of the mount. The round holes on the sides are designed for securing the balun using cable ties—the ties do not need to wrap entirely around the balun, but rather pass through the hole and around the exterior. The larger, elongated slots are intended for lashing or mounting the bracket itself.
There are numerous ways to secure, hoist, or attach the mount. My own version is printed in PLA and has performed well for several years in a cool environment; the design is sufficiently robust to ensure durability.
I recommend using at least 7 wall layers, 15% infill, and materials such as PETG, ABS, or nylon. In the design process, I accounted for various environmental factors—for instance, there are drainage holes in the bottom. The balun is supported not only by the base of the mount but also by the securing cable ties. This design has been in use and tested for some time, with potential issues addressed and refined along the way.
I have found that 100% infill is not sensible for any type of print. I have often observed that adding more wall layers results in extremely durable prints. In my opinion, any infill percentage higher than 20% is unnecessary.
